What I learned about playing it safe, networking, visibility, and getting promoted from graduating college during the worst job market of my lifetime and having to figure it out anyway.
Excellent advice as always! As someone who graduated a couple of years after you into peak panic over how anyone could ever find a job, this is all so very true. I really feel for people trying to find jobs now when it feels like a redux of what we graduated into, and I hope this advice can help someone who needs it.
The part about being a doer and an operator hits so hard, I’m switching from early to mid career and how I show up, speak up, and the brand I create matters so much more than the work in itself.
OMG YES! Dying at the cigar shop x_x writing this made me remember it all, the disappointment, the frustration, but also the debauchery because I had no business at the club but it made it fun. Also! Look at us now :))))

Yes! It's not just what you do but *who* knows about it. Critically important. Good on you for learning that now!!
$30k a year in a major city really was the starting salary in 2008-2010. 🤦🏻♀️
That was me + weekend jobs to pay the rent on my 800 sq foot 2 bedroom apartment above a cigar shop. 🤪
