Ashley, I really like how this captures the emotional side of negotiation. The stories are not fluffed up or unrealistic. Underneath, you can see the core moves like market worth, ZOPA, and BATNA, and you did all that without making it overly technical. Great post!

Yes! I didn’t think about (c) in that way but yes yes yes!

And honestly, all of it required me to push past the uncomfortable and go for what I wanted. I probably would’ve gotten <50% of the promotions/raises on that list if I didn’t ask/advocate for myself.

Thank you Jamie! It IS hard, there's so many emotions tied up in comp, understandably so(!!). And if you're already doing impactful work, sometimes the best approach is to modify your positioning and how you're advocating for yourself. It works!
