Thanks for giving us language on this! I have a Ghost Non-SME manager, and it's been...a struggle. But love the idea of overcommunicating, which honestly might be helpful given they don't know anything about my part of the business!

I am so glad (not glad about your manager but glad you have the language!!). I would try over communicating, maybe not getting into the finer details but keeping it high level and somewhat aligned with goals/outcomes/impact. See how it goes! And you can always DM me if you want to bounce ideas off.

I’ve always valued my ability to manage up in my career but one thing I didn’t do was build the right relationships until it was too late at my last corporate job. It’s something I plan on doing at my new job early! Also my boss is definitely a Ghost boss and you’re right: over communication and curiosity is helping me tremendously!
