Great lessons, thanks a lot Ashley and everyone who has shared their stories. Chris Voss’ book is indeed a masterpiece, I used it to negotiate my salary too and now use the learnings to coach people to negotiate! A must read.
This was so helpful Ashley! Thanks to everyone who shared their stories, I'm saving this to refer back to later and just put Never Split the Difference on hold at the library.
Thank you Tina - I love never split the difference, was happy to see Annabelle reference it! Another good resource is Women Don’t Ask by Linda Babcock.
It can be so hard though when you’re in an industry that is notoriously opaque (and underpaid) amid you feel a bit stuck in a corner. Thanks for curating these great stories!
Ashley, this is so good. Thank you again for including me! Money is inherently emotional but I love how everyone you featured mentions a logical and fact-based approach to negotiating.
Thank you for sharing your story Kate! You hit the nail on the head. There was this theme of each person also addressing the emotional undercurrent (being underpaid, under leveled, knowing your worth!!, the time investment not matching their pay) and pushed past it. So many people get stuck there and I understand why and I’ve been there too, but you *can* solve it!

Yes it’s definitely hard. I could feel those themes in the anons story. Def not easy waters to navigate.
