Last week’s Insiders call was incredible. If you were there, thank you so much for joining. And if you weren’t able to attend, I hope to see you at the next one! I really enjoyed getting to know everyone during the intros, seeing new and old faces felt special and seeing how you all established quick connections reinforced why Insiders is necessary.
I’ve been thinking a lot about how we talk about hard career stuff: your friends love you, but they don’t always have the context. And your colleagues have the context, but you can’t always be fully vulnerable, because it’s work and you have to save face. So you have to constantly edit yourself.
We somehow built a space where neither of those things were true. You shared real situations (layoffs, org politics, burnout, pivots) and everyone just got it. Immediately. No explanations necessary. No worrying about how your shares would land. We were just a group of people who have experienced similar issues at work, with no reason to hold back.
